GWPC PHOTO COMPETITION 2008

IN AID OF GWPC RESCUE

The Results are in........

...........thanks to all who supported this competition and raised funds for this very worthy cause.

Organiser Sharon Pinkerton writes....After a slow start to the GWPC rescue photograph competition we managed to receive 125 entries in the 8 classes.

Canine Photographer Carol Ann Johnson was so impressed with the quality of the photos and thoroughly enjoyed being asked to judge the classes especially when the proceeds were going to the breed rescue.   All photos were numbered with no identifying names on them to ensure that Carol's decisions were based on the photo and not the owner or dogs.

Just to clarify the instructions given for the competition as there has been some miss-quotes which may have affected people sending in photos.

For safety Carol Ann and myself agreed to "take" the photos to an event/show rather than risk posting photos for the judging process.  Therefore we were unable to accept email photos as the onus would then have been on myself to print them out and when the decisions were close Carol chose to assess the actual presentation of the photo as a decider.  Therefore that degree of presentation needed to be the decision of the owner of the photo and not the organiser.   Additionally there would also have been a cost aspect to the organiser having to print out emailed photos and the whole reason for the competition was to "raise" funds for GWPC rescue.

It was also asked for the photos to be copyright free.   This means that with any professional taken photos the owner had "purchased" the copyright to use any professional photos in this way.   Failure to have done this would have resulted in the GWPC being charged a copyright usage fee from the photographers should the photos have been used on the website/internet.    There has never been any written statement to say that all photographs would then revert to the ownership of the GWPC - this is completely un-true.

Some applicants had over paid and some had under paid but all photographs received were included and the amount of money raised for rescue is £266.
